The National Hurricane Center has upgraded invest 93-L to tropical depression #3 over the Southern Gulf of Mexico; and tropical storm warnings have been posted for portion of the Florida west coast.
Tropical depression 3 is currently moving to the north, has winds of 35mph, and a minimum pressure of 1005 millibars.
Forecast for tropical depression #3:Â Tropical depression 3 is expected to become tropical storm Colin later today and strengthen into a moderate tropical storm with 50mph winds before making landfall just east of Apalachicola late tomorrow.
Impacts: The main impacts from what will be tropical storm Colin will be winds between 45 – 55mph, perhaps some minor storm surge and coastal flooding along the west coast of Florida, heavy rainfall with totals of 4 – 8″, flash flooding, and rough surf. Tornadoes will also be a concern across the Florida Peninsula as well.
The worst of the weather will occur in the eastern quadrants so regardless of landfall central and south Florida will feel the worst of the weather. For impacts specific to your location consult your local National Weather Service office.
