A strong ridge of high pressure is expected to build across parts of the Southwest and South-Central U.S. this by mid-week and remain in place through at least this weekend.

The ridge will cause excessive and dangerous heat across parts of the Gulf Coast region from Wednesday through this weekend; and high temperatures are forecast to be 5 – 10 degrees above average.

Daily high temperatures between 90 and 95 degrees are expected across parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle from this upcoming Wednesday through Sunday.

Cities such as Houston, TX, Shreveport, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, Biloxi, MS, Mobile, AL, and Pensacola, FL are all expected to have high temperatures of or above 90 degrees each day from Wednesday through Sunday.

Heat indices – or the feels like temperature – will  be much higher than the actual temperatures.

The Ridge should then breakdown by early next week.
