Severe Weather Possible Across East Texas, Extreme Northwest Louisiana Tomorrow

Severe storms will be possible across East Texas and extreme Northwest Louisiana tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Setup

A front currently located in New Mexico and Colorado will advance East tomorrow, sweeping across Texas and Louisiana tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night. And as the front advances across East Texas and Northwest Louisiana, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of it.

Severe potential

Convective available potential energy (cape) of 500 jules per-kilogram (j/kg) , dew points in the 60s, and 40 – 60kt mid-level shear out of the west-southwest could cause some storms that develop ahead of the front across East Texas and extreme Northwest Louisiana tomorrow to become severe.

The overall severe potential is relatively low, but slightly higher than it was last Friday.

Potential threats

The primary threats posed by any severe storms tomorrow will be damaging wind gusts in excess of 70mph and hail.
