Isolated Strong to Severe Storms Possible this Afternoon, Evening Across LA, MS, AL

A cluster of heavy rain and storms is currently impacting Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi, moving east/east southeast.

This afternoon and evening: The aforementioned complex of storms will continue to move to the east/east southeast throughout the afternoon; eventually progressing into Southern Alabama and the Western Florida Panhandle late this afternoon and this evening.

Convective outlook for this afternoon and evening

Severe threat: Cape is currently moderate to high across Southeast Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, and Southern Alabama. This means that as the complex makes its way east, a few isolated strong to severe storms will be possible.

The primary threats posed by any strong to severe storms this afternoon will strong wind gusts and cloud to ground lightning.

Severe threat this weekend: It looks like a severe weather event will likely impact parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi this weekend. It is too early for specifics though.
