Winter Weather Possible for North, Central TX, LA, MS, and AL late week

In case you have not already heard, there is increasing potential for a winter storm to impact Northern and Central parts of the region late this week.

Setup: An area of low pressure is expected to develop over the Western Gulf of Mexico late Thursday into early Friday, and track east across the Gulf Coast Region through Saturday. And at the same time, a blast of Arctic air, likely the strongest of the winter season thus far, will push into the region.

All of the global models are on-board with this scenario, and it will likely set the stage for the potential for a winter storm to impact Northern and Central Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama Friday through Saturday.

However, at this time it is too early for specifics such as accumulation and placement, as this potential winter storm is still 4 – 5 days out.

We will have another update out on this potential tonight or tomorrow.

Note: There is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding this potential storm; and that the model image included in this post is not a forecast.
