Significant Severe Weather Event to Unfold Across Parts of Florida Today

Another round of strong to severe storms will impact South Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, and much of the Florida Peninsula today.

Placement: Severe storms are highly likely across parts of the Florida Panhandle, Northern Florida, and extreme Southeast Alabama, where there is a “high” risk of severe weather and a “moderate” risk. Elsewhere, in the “enhanced” and “slight” risk areas in the graphic above, a few severe storms will be possible. However, the overall threat in these areas is substantially lower than in the “high” and “moderate” risk areas.

Timing: Storms will develop late this morning, and push east and northeast through the afternoon and into tonight.

Threats: All modes of severe weather (damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail) are likely, including a few long-track, strong, and violent tornadoes.
