Update | Severe Weather Threat Today

Strong to severe storms are on track to impact parts of the region today.

Placement: The greatest threat for severe weather will be across Southeast Texas, where there is an “enhanced” risk for severe weather. However, severe storms will be possible across much of Louisiana, and Southern and Central Mississippi and Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle.

Severe weather outlook for today

Timing: A complex of strong to severe storms has already developed, and is currently impacting Southeast Texas this morning, where a tornado watch is in effect. It will push east across Louisiana throughout the day, ex[anding in coverage as it does so.

The storms will then push into Southern and Central Mississippi and Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle, tonight. However, they will decrease in coverage, becoming more scattered in nature, tonight; with the main severe threat coming from isolated cells.

Threats: All modes of severe weather will be possible today, including isolated tornadoes.
