The threat for severe weather is going to return to much of the region on during the end of this upcoming week.
Setup: A storm system is going to track across the Midwest from Friday through Saturday, and for it to bring a trailing cold front associated with it through the region.
Storms will develop ahead of the front as it pushes through the region, and the parameters will likely be in place to allow for some of them to be strong to severe.
Placement: The greatest threat for severe weather on Friday will be across East Texas, much of Louisiana, and West Mississippi, where the Storm Prediction Center has hatched a “slight” risk for severe weather.
The greatest risk for severe weather on Saturday will be across much of Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle, where the Storm Prediction Center has hatched the equivalent of a “slight” risk for severe weather.
Timing: It is still a too early for specifics on timing. However, it looks appears likely (at this time) that storms will develop across East Texas late Friday, and push into Louisiana and West Mississippi overnight Friday. From there, they will likely progress across the remainder of Mississippi, and much of Alabama and the Florida Panhandle throughout the day Saturday into Saturday evening.
Threats: Damaging winds and hail appear to be the most likely hazards presently. However, an isolated tornado or two is also a concern.
