Harvey Update: August 27th, 2017

Harvey continues over Southeast Texas this evening, and is currently located just east of Victoria, Texas.

Latest Advisory Info: As of the 10:00 PM CDT advisory movement was to the east-southeast at 3mph, maximum sustained winds were 40mph, and the minimum central pressure was 1000 millibars.

Forecast track and Intensity: Harvey will drift across Southeast Texas through at least Wednesday — briefly looping back into the Gulf and re-intensifying slightly — before making a second landfall in between Houston/Lake Charles.

Latest QPF forecast from NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center.

Impacts: Regardless of track and intensity, heavy rain will continue across Southeast Texas from Harvey’s rain bands; an additional 20″ of rain is expected through Friday. This will exacerbate the catastrophic flooding that has already occurred.

The threat for life threatening flooding will also push further east into Southern Louisiana tonight and tomorrow.

Aside from the flood threat, tropical storm force winds and some coastal flooding will also be likely once again across parts of central Texas coast, along with isolated tornadoes across all of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.
