Threat for Strong to Severe Storms for Portions of TX, LA, and MS Through This Evening

There is a threat for some strong to severe storms across extreme Southeast Texas, Southwest Louisiana, and portions of Central and Northern Louisiana and Mississippi through this evening along and ahead of a slow moving frontal boundary.

Placement/Timing: The Storm Prediction Center has hatched a “slight” risk area for Central Louisiana into Northeast Louisiana, and a “marginal” risk area for extreme Southeast Texas, Southwest Louisiana, areas of Northern Louisiana (excluding areas in the “slight” risk zone), and Central Mississippi.

A tornado watch has also been issued for areas of  far Southeast Texas and Southwest, Central, and Northern Louisiana until 5:00 PM CST this evening.

Primary threats: Damaging wind gusts up to 70mph and a couple of tornadoes will be possible.
