Unsettled Weather Pattern for Central/East Gulf Coast Next Week

A trough is going to dig into the the Eastern U.S. this weekend. During the first part of the week next week it will retrograde south, becoming positioned along the North-Central Gulf Coast.

Once the trough becomes positioned along the North-Central Gulf Coast, it will stall/meander west. The result will be a period of wet, unsettled weather for East Louisiana and Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle through at least mid week.

The latest 7-day quantitative precipitation forecast (QPF) from the Weather Prediction Center (WPC) reflects this well (see figure 1).
