Tranquil weather is on tap for most of the Gulf Coast region today – the exception being the Florida peninsula.

Texas Coastal Plain

Mostly clear skies can be expected. Highs run in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Lows will range into the upper 40s to low 60s.

Forecast High/Low:  

Houston: 71/49.

Corpus Christi: 70/60

Brownsville: 68/61

Louisiana

With high pressure in place, mostly clear skies anticipated. Highs will generally run in the low/mid 60s. However, the southwest portion of the state will experience upper 60s to lower 70s.

For lows, low 40s are forecast to the north with  mid to upper 50s at/near the coast.

New Orleans: 64/47

Lake Charles: 69/45

Mississippi, Alabama and the FL Panhandle

Sunny skies will prevail. With a northerly wind flow, temperatures will be below seasonal, only rising into the 60s this afternoon and dropping into the 30s to near 50.

Gulfport, MS: 63/42

Birmingham, AL: 63/37

Mobile, AL: 67/41

Pensacola, FL: 65/49

Tallahassee, FL: 69/46

Florida Peninsula

A passing area of low pressure is going to result in widespread showers and thunderstorms today. No severe weather is anticipated.

Rainfall amounts will generally be up to 2″ or less.

As far as temperatures are concerned, afternoon highs will be in the mid 60s to mid 70s. Nighttime lows will range from the 40s (North FL) to the 60s (South FL).
