While investigating Invest 90L this afternoon, a USAF reconnaissance aircraft found a well-defined low-level center of circulation and winds of 40 mph, prompting an upgrade to Subtropical Storm Andrea.

As of the 5:30 PM special advisory package, Andrea was located several hundred miles southwest of Bermuda. Maximum sustained winds were 40 MPH, the minimum central pressure was 1006 millibars, and movement was to the north at 14 MPH.

Andrea will have a bit of time to strengthen before getting absorbed by an upper-level late tomorrow.

NOTE: Andrea is not a threat to the United States or Gulf Coast.
