Tropical Storm Barry got stronger overnight.

As of the 7 AM CDT advisory, maximum sustained winds were up to 70 MPH, with a minimum central pressure of 991 millibars.

The turn to the northwest has finally occurred.

Based on satellite, radar and data from a USAF reconnaissance aircraft, landfall is imminent, with the center just 50 miles southwest of Morgan City.

Much of the convective activity is still offshore, with the exception of a large band impacting extreme southeast Louisiana, southeast Mississippi and southwest Alabama.

However, this should change today and tonight as Barry tracks inland.
