BREAKING: Tropical Depression Three has Formed East of Florida

Forecast track for TD-3. Image: National Hurricane Center

The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Invest 94L to Tropical Depression Three (TD-3).

Late this morning, an ASCAT pass revealed that 94L had become more organized, with a closed low-level circulation having formed.

With marginally conducive environmental conditions, it was always possible that Invest 94L might develop. It just seemed unlikely.

As of the 5 PM EDT advisory, TD-3 had maximum sustained winds of 30 MPH and minimum central pressure of 1013 millibars. Movement was to the northwest at 13 MPH.

TD-3 will turn to the north will take place early tomorrow, and then to the northeast/north-northeast.

The official forecast from the National Hurricane Center keeps the center of TD-3 just offshore of both Florida’s east coast and the Southeast U.S. coast. However, landfall can’t be ruled out.

Little strengthening is likely. The official forecast from the National Hurricane Center keeps TD-3 a tropical depression, with dissipation Wednesday.
