Tropical Update: Gulf of Mexico Area of Interest Unlikely to Develop

Latest 2-day Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook from the National Hurricane Center.

As predicted, an area of low pressure has formed in the Gulf of Mexico.

However, due to high wind shear and dry air, tropical or subtropical development now appears highly unlikely.

Both the GFS and UKMET, which were predicting development of a tropical depression yesterday, are no longer predicting development as of the 00z model cycle.

In their 8 AM EDT Tropical Weather Outlook, the National Hurricane Center decreased the already low chance of development to 0% over the next 2 – 5 days.
