BREAKING: Tropical Depression 10 has Formed

Initial forecast track for Tropical Depression Ten from the National Hurricane Center.

Invest 97-L has managed to become organized enough to be classified a tropical cyclone, prompting the National Hurricane Center to initiate advisories on Tropical Depression Ten (TD-10).

As of 11 AM EDT/AST, maximum sustained winds were 35 mph, the minimum central pressure was 1007 mb, and movement was west-northwest at 12 mph.

TD-10 is forecast to become a tropical storm later today/tonight, and a category 1 hurricane Friday.

TD-10 is forecast to stay north of the Caribbean; however, this is not a sure thing, as some model guidance – namely the UKMET – is now favoring a more west track.
