Fall-Like Weather in Sight

So far this fall, the eastern two-thirds of the country has been dominated by an anomalously strong ridge of high pressure, resulting in record warmth.

This pattern has also resulted in drought development in the Southeast and much of Texas.

While the record warmth and lack of rain is likely to continue this week, a pattern change is in sight.

Model guidance is in agreement on the break down of the aforementioned ridge this weekend/early next week, which should allow for the passage of a cold front.

The front will likely bring an increase in precipitation chances and some cooler, fall-like temperatures (see figure 1).
