The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Invest 96L to Potential Tropical Cyclone Sixteen (PTC 16), allowing advisories to be initiated

As of 10 AM CDT, PTC 16 had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, a minimum pressure of 1007 mb, and was moving north at 8 mph.

At this time, it does look like PTC 16 will come ashore between Destin, FL and Apalachicola Friday night or Saturday as a mid to high end tropical or subtropical storm.

Interests from southeast Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle should monitor the progress of PTC 16.
