Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather for Parts of South Texas Today

Another severe weather threat is in store today  – this time for south/central Texas into southwest Louisiana.

An enhanced (level 3 out of 5) risk for severe weather has been defined for a portion of south Texas, including Sugar Land and Victoria. A slight (level 2 out of 5) risk and marginal (level 1 out of 5) risk have also been delineated.

Storms will initially develop this afternoon and evening in the vicinity of the I-35 corridor and shift east into the overnight.

The primary concern will be large hail. However, there will be potential for growth into a linear storm mode suggesting strong/damaging wind gusts will also be a threat. The tornado threat will be low, but non-zero.
