Potentially Significant, Widespread Severe Weather Event Possible Wednesday

A storm system is going to move out of the Plains and into the Mississippi Valley Wednesday.

In the warm sector, ample instability and wind shear is expected to result in a potentially significant, widespread severe weather event across the South/Southeast Wednesday into Thursday.

The Storm Prediction Center has defined both a 15 percent and 30 percent risk for severe weather for Wednesday in their day 4 outlook. That is the equivalent to a slight and enhanced categorical risk.

While the details remain murky, all hazards appear possible – tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail. Timing for the greatest severe risk looks to be Wednesday afternoon.
