Ida Rapidly Intensifies into a Category 4 Hurricane With 150 mph Winds

Ida rapidly intensified into a category 4 hurricane overnight and continues to strengthen. As of a 6 AM CDT update statement from the National Hurricane Center, maximum sustained winds have increased to 150 mph and the minimum central pressure has dropped to 935 mb.

Landfall in either Terrebonne Parish or Lafourche Parish is still 4 – 6 hours away meaning there is a possibility Ida could become a category 5 hurricane.
