A strong cold front currently draped from south Texas into the Tennessee/Ohio Valley is going to sweep east across the Southeast tonight into tomorrow morning, and a much colder air mass will move in behind it.
Low temperatures will range from the teens across north MS and AL to the upper 20s/lower to mid 30s along the central Gulf Coast region Sunday morning, and freeze warnings/watches are in effect for these areas.
Those in Texas will experience their lowest minimum temperatures tomorrow morning. Low temperatures across north/central Texas will range from the teens to mid 20s with upper 20s to mid/upper 30s across much of south Texas.
There will also be potential for some wintry precipitation across north Texas and Louisiana this afternoon/evening, and across north/central Mississippi and Alabama tonight/tomorrow morning. Accumulations will be highest across north Mississippi and Alabama where 1 – 3″ of snow is forecast.
Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect. The latest winter storm severity index from the Weather Prediction Center indicates minor to moderate impacts are likely.
It will also be quite windy in the front’s wake with wind advisories in place from Texas into the Southeast.
