Severe Weather Possible for East Texas, Western Louisiana Later Today and Tonight

Strong to severe storms capable of producing isolated damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes will be possible across east Texas, western Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and southwest Arkansas late this afternoon into tonight.

High resolution model guidance indicates that storms will initially develop along/east of I-35 in Texas, likely in the DFW vicinity, after 3 PM CDT. Additional storms will develop going into the afternoon/evening.

There is potential for some supercells. One or more line segments, and potentially a mesoscale convective system (MCS), will likely develop at some point.

A slight (level 2 out of 5) risk for severe weather has been defined by the Storm Prediction Center and includes much of east Texas, extreme southeast Oklahoma and southwest Arkansas, and part of western Louisiana. A marginal (level 1 out of 5) risk area has also been defined.
